Cognitive-Behavioral Psychotherapy in New York and New Jersey

People enter therapy for many reasons.  Some have difficult relationships with significant others in their lives.  Others may be dealing with depression, anxiety, loneliness or feelings of emptiness and low self-esteem.  Still others are choosing to improve the quality of their lives and feel more alive.

These topics can be difficult to explore because of the uncomfortable feelings they bring up. My approach is to proceed with this in mind, in a caring and sensitive way that allows ample room to make these feelings understandable and to become skilled in taking a more healthy orientation toward them.

You can expect that as therapy progresses, you will:

  • Experience greater satisfaction with your life and in your relationships
  • No longer be as “triggered” or swept away by unconscious patterns of behavior ("schemas") that no longer serve you
  • Learn and practice better ways to experience and self-regulate emotions and thoughts and mindfulness skills that will allow you to maintain greater calmness in the face of adversity and open you to life’s possibilities more strongly.

“To study the Way is to study the self, to study the self is to forget the self, to forget the self is to be enlightened by the ten thousand things."
